Jensen Ackles article in SFX Magazine (but first I’d like to thank one of my good friends Jo Wren for posting this, all credit goes to her)
Q: How does it feel to start year ten with Dean as a demon?
J: We’re still getting our bearings and trying to figure out where we’re going to go, but the whole demon Dean storyline is fun and new and interesting and different.
Q: What’s different about this Dean?
J: Everybody’s asked if this will be a darker Dean, but it’s actually the opposite. It’s a lighter Dean. It’s a Dean without having the weight of the world on his shoulders and trying to fight the good fight, protect his brother and do the right thing. This Dean doesn’t give a shit at all. He’s going to have a good time. He’s going to drink as much as he wants and get into fights and hook up with babes. It’s the life Dean wished he could live but he can’t because he’s the good guy.
Q: Would you say the episodes are more comedic in tone?
J: It’s not comedic. It’s a personal choice I made with the character. He’s not funny. He doesn’t care to the point that it’s kind of scary. He’s just flippant about everything even when he hears his brother might be in some serious trouble. He’s like “I don’t care” which to me is scarier than if he was like [growls]
I am so sorry for what they’ve done to your character. That they think all Dean really wants to do, what he would do if he could, if he had no responsibilities, is drink, fight, fuck, and grab women without their consent, when he knows they don’t want him to touch them.
I mean, shit, the alcoholism alone…Dean doesn’t drink because it’s fun, Dean drinks as a coping mechanism. His heavy drinking was always when he was trying to forget, drown the pain. He was never really a party drinker.
This is who they think Dean is and wants to be. A violent partyboy douchebag whose naturally cruel to women, who molests them without their consent.
“It’s the life Dean wished he could live but he can’t because he’s the good guy”
I’m not one to spread wank, but that sentence specifically really disgusts me. I hope this is bad PR and not how he really sees it…
WAIT. Is he really saying Dean WANTS to be a fucking jerk? What the hell?
To be fair, it’s not Jensen Ackles fault the writers found Dean ‘boring’ (Carver’s own words) and decided to retcon him in S9 into being a generally terrible person (remember that episode where the writer and star of Half-Dead Whore decided to retcon Dean into being a Quagmire-esque sexual predator who doesn’t care at all about consent, doesn’t care what the woman wants, what her mental/emotional state is just so long as he can stick his dick in her? Or that ep where Sam, whom Dean has sacrificed everything for, told Dean he was selfish and never willing to be the one to do the sacrificing? Or that time Adam Glass went on a John Winchester apologism rant, right after blaming Dean for him and Sam’s lack of food as kids? Remember when Buckner/Ross-Lemming said in a commentary that ‘It’s in Dean’s DNA to be a killer’?).
Jensen is doing what he is contractually obligated to do, talk positively about whatever shit they make him do, parrot the talking points they give him. They’re trying to sell a product here. Now maybe Jensen really feels this way, maybe he doesn’t. He’s had to cheer on things he later admitted to hating before, which sucks, but it’s part of Hollywood (Misha has an ability to drag the shit out of something without being overtly critical, but not everyone has that skill). The fault of turning Dean into…this lies with the writers/showrunners. They’re the ones that see Dean this way.

I don’t care how you learned it. You are learning good things.
Royd Allan Reuel Tolkien is the great-grandson of J.R.R. Tolkien. At the request of Peter Jackson, he played a Gondorian ranger passing arms out to other rangers as they prepare to defend Osgiliath in The Return of the King
This is my favourite tid-bit of information regarding Lord of the Rings
EXCUSE ME BUT THIS RING. NO ONE NOTICED IT?????
Actually I’ve seen people mention it since the first episode.
It’s Capaldi’s wedding ring. He never takes it off, even when acting.
To add to the story, he refuses to take it off because when his acting career was struggling, his wife never gave up on him. When he landed his first major gig, he decided to not take it off, to represent he was there because of his wife’s support.
This is the sweetest and best thing I’ve eve heard about any behind-the-scenes ever
Remember when he’s told the tradition is to give that chocolate box to someone “you love" and he immediately jumped off the stage and ran to his wife in Seoul without even a second thought?
this is the reason i love and RESPECT him this much… just… *sniffs*
Like a proud father.
CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW THAT GUY IS A DEAD RINGER FOR CHRIS EVANS THOUGH
CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW THAT OTHER GUY IS A DEAD RINGER FOR CHRIS HEMSWORTH
I need this
